A strong middle option. Carbon film gives you a deep, matte-black appearance with no reflectivity, solid UV blocking, and good color stability — it won't go purple like dyed film.
Heat rejection is a step below ceramic, but for a car that lives in a garage or a driver who mostly wants the look and the privacy, carbon is a genuinely sensible choice. Both XPEL and SunTek carbon lines carry a lifetime warranty against fading and bubbling.

Illinois measures tint by VLT — how much visible light gets through the glass. Lower number, darker window. As a general rule, a passenger car needs to let at least 35% of light through the front side windows. SUVs, vans, and trucks are treated differently: the rear side glass and rear window can usually go considerably darker. Nothing is permitted on the windshield below the AS-1 line, and Illinois does allow medical exemptions with the right documentation.
Tint law gets amended, and enforcement varies. So we don't guess — we confirm the current limits for your exact vehicle and body style before a single piece of film gets cut. If you want darker than legal, we'll tell you that clearly rather than let you find out from a squad car.
